Deadlock Announces Major Update In Months
Four-lane Map Becomes Three Lanes

Deadlock's latest major update is set to simplify its map structure by converting its four lanes into three. Valve shared the comprehensive details of this map rework and other mechanical adjustments on Steam on February 26, 2025.
The update includes a transformation of the four lanes into three, accompanied by "a vast array of map-wide changes including visuals, building layouts, pathways, neutral camps, air vents, breakables, powerup buffs, juke spots, mid boss, and more." Deadlock stands out in the MOBA genre with its third-person perspective, and this shift from a four-lane to a three-lane map aims to streamline gameplay.
Moreover, the update introduces changes to farming enemy troopers, making it easier for players to summon Soul Orbs without the need to last-hit enemies during the early laning phases. The patch notes also highlight improvements in the game's netcode and overall client performance.
Vital Update for Deadlock

This pivotal update could be the catalyst needed to re-energize Deadlock's community. Back in September 2024, the game saw a surge in player count, reaching an all-time high of 171,490 players. However, the numbers have since dwindled, with only around 17,000 players active this past month.
Valve Developer Yoshi shared in January 2025 on Deadlock's Discord server that the team plans to adjust their update schedule. Yoshi noted, "Moving forward, major patches will no longer adhere to a fixed schedule. These patches will be more comprehensive, though slightly more spaced out, and we will continue to release hotfixes as needed. We're excited to continue enhancing the game throughout the new year."
