Universal Pictures unveils the first look at Christopher Nolan's upcoming film, The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon as the legendary Odysseus.

Following the phenomenal success of 2023's Oppenheimer, Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic poem, originally penned in the 8th or 7th century BC, is set for a July 17, 2026 release.

The official synopsis describes The Odyssey as a sweeping action epic, filmed globally using cutting-edge IMAX technology. This marks the first time Homer's timeless tale will grace IMAX screens.

The film chronicles Odysseus's arduous ten-year journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. While Universal remains tight-lipped on further details, rumors suggest an impressive ensemble cast.

Matt Damon, reuniting with Universal after his Oppenheimer success (a seven-time Academy Award winner, including Best Picture and Best Director), was reportedly the first actor approached for the lead role. Speculation points to a star-studded lineup potentially including Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.
