For optimal preparation, equip water-element weapons (obtained from Uth Duna in the Scarlet Forest by this point in the game) and gear with fire resistance (also farmable from Uth Duna, or later from Ajarakan). Crafting a Fire Charm I talisman or a Defense Charm I is another strong option. Don't forget a hearty pre-battle meal to boost health and stamina!
Rompopolo Attacks and Weaknesses

Rompopolo’s unique attacks utilize its gas-filled, saggy skin. Be prepared for explosions and poison. Carry Antidotes; your Palico can also help mitigate status ailments. Key attacks to watch for include:
- Arm Swipe: A double swipe, easily dodged due to its short range.
- Lunge With Arm Swipe: A charging attack with an arcing swipe.
- Tail Swing: A straightforward tail attack.
- Poison Stream or Swipe: A poison gas stream or a charging swipe with poison spray.
- Oil Explosion: Rompopolo uses its tail to ignite oil pools, causing explosions. Dodge!
- Charged Oil Explosion: A larger, more powerful oil explosion used later in the fight. Dodge!
Should You Kill or Capture Rompopolo?

You can choose to kill or capture Rompopolo. To capture, weaken it until your Palico notes it’s "tired," then use Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps followed by at least one Tranq Bomb. While both methods are viable, they yield slightly different item rewards; some items are exclusive to capture, others to kill.
