'American Dad!' Returns to Fox in 2026 Midseason
It's back for another round. Seth MacFarlane's American Dad is making its return to Fox, officially scheduled to debut again on the network in 2026, alongside fresh episodes of MacFarlane’s other popular series, Family Guy.
Reviving both series for the midseason represents a homecoming for the shows, which originally aired on Fox from 2005 to 2014 before shifting to TBS until March of this year. Both American Dad and Family Guy are part of a broader effort to maintain a "winning position" in primetime television programming.
“Building on our winning position in both key demographics and co-viewing this season, Fox presents a 2025-26 schedule packed with irreverence, fun, and much-needed laughter,” Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade stated, as reported by Variety. “Next year more than ever, we’re bringing that promise to life with a terrific lineup to delight our audiences across linear TV, Hulu, and beyond.”

Fox is currently buzzing with new developments regarding the content and delivery of its upcoming programming, including the announcement of its new streaming service's name. Fox One will integrate news, sports, and entertainment programming into a single platform, according to a network press release, and will offer both live streaming and on-demand access to the full catalog of Fox brands. The service will also include the option to bundle with Fox Nation within one platform.
American Dad does not yet have a specific premiere date for its Fox comeback, but whenever it arrives, we’ll be tuning in (and likely singing along to the theme song). It will likely be available on Fox One as well, though we should have confirmation sometime next year.
