How To Access the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Steam Early Access, the Deep Woods have tantalizingly appeared on the town map, yet remained frustratingly inaccessible—until the March 2025 update, that is! This guide reveals how to unlock this new area and finally meet Caldarus.

Unlocking the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*

The key to unlocking the Deep Woods lies in breaking the Fire Seal and utilizing the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to burn away the obstructing vines. This requires a specific offering to the Priestess's Fire Seal altar (Floor 60 of the mines): a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are found between floors 50 and 59. However, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires a bit more legwork.

You'll need to enlist the help of Balor. To do this, leave the following items in the bin near his wagon: 10 Silver Ingots, 10 Rubies, 10 Sapphires, and 10 Emeralds. After meeting these requirements, speak with Balor again; he'll inform you the scroll will arrive the following day. Once you have all four items, complete the offering.

Breaking the seal usually involves a simple farewell from the Priestess. However, this time, things take an unexpected turn. The Priestess urges you to flee before the scroll seals you within the mines. With your health depleted, Caldarus dramatically appears, offering aid in his human form before retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover. He then tasks you with finding him there, bestowing upon you the Dragon’s Breath spell.

This potent spell not only clears the path to the Deep Woods but also unlocks other previously inaccessible areas. Equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while facing the entrance to unlock the Deep Woods permanently.

Finding Caldarus

After unlocking the Deep Woods, locate Caldarus's temple to the north of the Eastern Road. His location is clearly marked on your map. The entrance requires removing a stump with your axe. Proceed north to reach the temple and find Caldarus within.

For convenient access, use the Dragon Statue on your farm to teleport directly to the Deep Woods for a mere 10 Essence. You can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, even after your in-person visit.
