Según un ejecutivo de la compañía, no está preocupado por perder a los usuarios de PlayStation 5 (PS5) ante los juegos de PC. Esta declaración, parte de una descripción general de la estrategia reciente, destaca el enfoque evolutivo de Sony para las versiones de PC.

La incursión de Sony en PC Gaming comenzó en 2020 con Horizon Zero Dawn . Esta iniciativa se ha acelerado desde la adquisición 2021 de Nixxes Software, un reconocido estudio de PC Porting. Si bien la liberación de exclusivas de PlayStation en PC expande el alcance y los ingresos, teóricamente debilita la propuesta de venta única de la consola. Sin embargo, los datos de Sony sugieren lo contrario.

Las ventas de PS5 siguen siendo fuertes

Las cifras de ventas de PS5, que llegan a 65.5 millones de unidades para noviembre de 2024, son comparables al rendimiento de la PS4 en sus primeros cuatro años. Sony atribuye la ligera diferencia (PS4 vendió ligeramente más de 73 millones de unidades) principalmente a las limitaciones de la cadena de suministro de PS5 durante la pandemia, no un cambio a los juegos de PC. Este fuerte rendimiento de ventas de consola refuerza la confianza de Sony en su estrategia de portación de PC.

Un ejecutivo declaró: "En términos de perder usuarios a las PC, no hemos confirmado que ninguna tendencia esté en marcha, ni la vemos como un riesgo importante, hasta ahora".

Un enfoque de portada de PC más agresivo

Sony planea una estrategia de portada de PC más agresiva, con el objetivo de reducir el retraso de tiempo entre PS5 y las versiones de PC. Marvel's Spider-Man 2, lanzándose en la PC el 30 de enero, solo 15 meses después de su debut de PS5, ejemplifica este cambio. Esto contrasta con Spider-Man: Miles Morales , que siguió siendo exclusivo de PlayStation durante más de dos años.

Beyond Spider-Man 2 , Final Fantasy VII Rebirth llega al vapor el 23 de enero. Varias exclusivas de alto perfil PS5 permanecen sin previo aviso para la PC, incluido Gran Turismo 7 , Rise of the Ronin , Stellar Blade , y el Demon's Souls Remake.
