Application Description
Digital Transformation of Devarattam
This app was developed as part of my initiative titled "Digital Revolution of Devarattam."
Kalaimamani Mr. M KUMARARAMAN, a retired teacher, along with Kalaimani recipients Mr. M KANNAN KUMAR and Mr. K NELLAI MANIKANDAN from Zamin Kodangipatti, have been honored with the prestigious KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR awards for their contributions to Devarattam. I dedicate this app to these esteemed legends, my guru Mr. E RAJAKAMULU, and the beloved masters of Devarattam. My primary goal in creating the Devarattam app is to promote awareness about Devarattam and its award recipients. The app features detailed descriptions of both Devarattam and its honorees. Devarattam is a traditional folk dance from Tamil Nadu, historically and presently performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community. The dance consists of 32 foundational steps, with variations extending up to 72 steps, all derived from these core movements.
Devarattam dancers typically hold handkerchiefs in each hand and wear Salangai (ankle bells) while performing. The dance is accompanied by rhythmic beats from the traditional musical instrument known as Deva Thunthumi.
