Xbox unveils surprise game in upcoming Developer Direct event

Xbox's Developer_Direct returns January 23rd, 2025, showcasing highly anticipated 2025 titles, including a mystery game. Here's a preview of the event and featured games.

The Developer_Direct will feature an in-depth look at four games, one of which is a surprise reveal. The event will be streamed on official Xbox channels at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern / 6 PM UK time.

Featured Games:

• South of Midnight (Compulsion Games): An action-adventure game set in a mystical American South. Players assume the role of Hazel, embarking on a quest to rescue her mother and mend a fractured world after a devastating hurricane. Hazel must master the art of "Weaving," a form of magic, to combat mythical creatures. Releasing in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

• Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Sandfall Interactive): A turn-based RPG with real-time combat elements. Players join Gustave and Lune as they attempt to thwart the Paintress, a being who erases people annually. Launching in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

• DOOM: The Dark Ages (id Software): A single-player first-person shooter prequel to Doom (2016). The Doom Slayer confronts hellish forces in a techno-medieval setting, wielding a throwable bladed shield and an arsenal of weaponry. Releasing in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Steam.
