WB Cancels Unannounced Paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy

Author : Ava Update : May 01,2025

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has decided to cancel an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned expansion was set to be released this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, sources cited by Bloomberg revealed that Warner Bros. pulled the plug on the project this week, citing concerns that "the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered." Warner Bros. did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment on this matter.

This decision comes amidst a broader restructuring of Warner Bros.' gaming division, which has been grappling with financial challenges. Earlier this year, the company canceled its planned Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, as well as WB San Diego and the studio responsible for MultiVersus, Player First Games. Additionally, Warner Bros. laid off employees at Rocksteady in September of the previous year.

Despite the cancellation of the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. has emphasized the importance of the Hogwarts Legacy franchise and the Harry Potter universe as key assets. The company has reiterated that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities" as it shifts focus towards fewer but larger franchises. The initial release of Hogwarts Legacy has been a massive success, selling over 30 million copies.
