How To Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Avowed
Mastering Weapon and Armor Upgrades in Avowed: A Comprehensive Guide
Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly challenging enemies. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your gear is crucial. This guide details how to enhance weapons and armor in Avowed.
Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above), located at Party Camps. These camps are established near Adra Waystones scattered throughout the world. Interact with a Waystone to set up a camp, marked on your map with a tent icon for easy fast travel. Upgrades require various materials, readily found or craftable, with higher-quality upgrades demanding rarer Adra.
Understanding Avowed's Weapon and Armor Leveling System
Gear power is determined by two factors: Quality and additional upgrade tiers. Quality is represented numerically, by color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and an adjective. This directly impacts effectiveness against enemies; lower-quality gear struggles against higher-level foes. Weapons and armor perform optimally against enemies of the same or lower Quality level. Each Quality level allows for three additional upgrade tiers (+0 to +3), offering incremental stat boosts. All three must be completed before upgrading to the next Quality.
Prioritizing Upgrade Resources: Unique vs. Standard Gear
Avowed features standard and Unique weapons and armor. Standard gear is readily available as loot or from merchants, while Unique items are named, often acquired through quests or boss encounters. Some merchants may sell Unique gear. Crucially, Unique gear can reach Legendary Quality, unlike standard gear which maxes out at Superb. Unique items also possess superior bonuses and perks.
Therefore, prioritize upgrading Unique weapons and armor. Standard gear serves as a temporary placeholder, either sold to merchants or salvaged for resources to upgrade your premium equipment.
In conclusion, strategic upgrading in Avowed hinges on focusing resources on Unique gear to maximize combat potential.
Avowed is currently available on PC and Xbox.
