Unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2024's Xbox showcase, *Threads of Time* is currently under development for Xbox Series X/S and Steam. While a release date remains unconfirmed, PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions haven't been ruled out.Generating considerable buzz, Threads of Time is poised to rival Sea of Stars as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's Chrono series. This retro-styled debut from Riyo Games promises a captivating blend of nostalgia and innovation.
"Riyo Games aims to create retro-inspired RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories," the studio stated in its announcement. "Our journey began with a childhood promise – two friends playing RPGs on a CRT TV, dreaming of one day crafting their own epic adventures."
Boasting stunning 2.5D pixel art, Threads of Time features a diverse cast of characters from various eras, embarking on an epic adventure spanning centuries. The narrative jumps from the age of dinosaurs to a futuristic world of robots, culminating in a quest to unravel a time-altering conspiracy. Complementing the pixel art are high-quality anime cutscenes that enhance the intricate storyline.
