"Switch 2 Launch Games: Predictions Revealed"
With the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, anticipation is building about the games we might see at launch. While an official lineup hasn't been announced, let's take a fun guess at what could be in store for us on day one. Nintendo's rich catalog of beloved titles suggests some exciting possibilities, and we're also eager to see new projects from indie studios come to life on this next-gen console.

Even if not all of these games make it to the Switch 2 launch, getting even half of them would make for an incredible start. Here's what we're hoping (and dreaming) to see when we get our hands on the new Joy-Con.
Mario Kart 9
It's been over a decade since Mario Kart 8 graced the Wii U, evolving into the definitive karting experience with the Switch's deluxe edition and expansive DLC, boasting 96 circuits. As the best-selling game on both the Wii U and Switch, the demand for a sequel is undeniable. Although Nintendo has not yet confirmed Mario Kart 9, reports from 2022 hinted at its development with a "new twist." We're eager to see what innovations it brings and are crossing our fingers for a launch alongside the Switch 2, making it a potential system seller.
New 3D Super Mario
Given the legacy of Super Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy, it's surprising that the Switch only got one original 3D Mario title, Super Mario Odyssey, back in 2017. With no significant DLC for Odyssey, fans are hungry for a new 3D adventure. A launch title for the Switch 2 featuring Mario's signature wacky abilities and inventive level design would be a powerful statement from Nintendo, especially if paired with a new Mario Kart. If not at launch, a follow-up within months would still be welcome.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Metroid fans have been eagerly awaiting Metroid Prime 4 since its announcement in 2017, enduring a long silence until its revival in 2024. Now developed by Retro Studios, the original creators, the game's reveal trailer hinted at stunning visuals that might be best showcased on the Switch 2. We're hoping this long-awaited title hits the ground running at the console's launch.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Enhanced
Two of the Switch's most iconic games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, are likely candidates for the Switch 2. We're hoping for backward compatibility with an automatic "boost" mode, but specially enhanced versions leveraging the Switch 2's rumored power would be even better. Imagine exploring Hyrule in crisp 4K without any framerate issues.
Ring Fit Adventure 2
Nintendo often surprises us with quirky launch titles, and Ring Fit Adventure, which turned a workout into a turn-based RPG, was a hit on the original Switch. With over 15 million copies sold, a sequel could showcase the Switch 2's new features and motion control capabilities, making it a perfect fit for launch.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
While the original Switch couldn't handle the graphical demands of Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake, the Switch 2 might be up to the task. Launching this critically acclaimed title would not only demonstrate the console's capabilities but also bring back a classic horror game to Nintendo platforms, years after its GameCube debut.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Though it might seem ambitious, given Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal's presence on the original Switch, and Microsoft's openness to cross-platform releases, Doom: The Dark Ages could find a home on the Switch 2. With limited information available beyond a short trailer, we're excited to see if it aligns with the Switch 2's launch, ready to rip and tear on the go once more.
The Haunted Chocolatier
Stardew Valley's success on the Switch made it a standout indie title, and its developer, ConcernedApe, is working on The Haunted Chocolatier. This unique blend of confectionary simulation and action-RPG with ghostly elements could be a perfect fit for the Switch 2's launch, though solo developer Eric Barone's recent statement suggests a launch year release might be more realistic. Still, the prospect of playing this eerie game at launch is tantalizing.
Earthblade
Finally, Earthblade, the successor to the beloved indie hit Celeste, could be another exciting addition to the Switch 2's lineup. With its 2D explor-action gameplay and stunning pixel art, and a projected release in 2025, it's not out of the question that it could launch alongside the new console. We're eagerly awaiting more news on this promising title.
