Star Wars Hunters Axed, Steam Launch Scrapped

Author : Mila Update : Oct 26,2025

Zynga, the publisher of Star Wars: Hunters, has revealed plans to discontinue the game entirely just nine months after launch, with the previously announced PC version on Steam also being canceled.

The free-to-play team battle arena game, developed by NaturalMotion, debuted on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in June 2024. IGN's Star Wars: Hunters review awarded it a 7/10, describing the experience as "lighthearted PvP fun reminiscent of a Death Star party—impressive initially but lacking long-term appeal."

This assessment proved accurate when Zynga announced that after careful evaluation, the final content update would arrive on April 15, with servers remaining operational until October 1, 2025.

Zynga acknowledged player disappointment, stating: "This difficult decision reflects our appreciation for your incredible dedication. We're committed to transparent communication throughout this transition period."

The shutdown timeline includes extending Season 5 through March 25 with recurring events and shop bundles, while the ranked season will continue longer to help players achieve Kyber 1 status.

April 15 will mark the final update, introducing support hunter Tuya as a free unlockable character alongside additional content, though all in-game purchases will be disabled. Competitive play will persist through rotating battlefields and a final ranked leaderboard.

Full server shutdown will occur on October 1, with no mention of the promised PC version—its Steam page now bears an "unavailable" notice. This represents a significant shift for Zynga, known for mobile hits like FarmVille, as Hunters marked their first console venture and intended PC debut.

Last November, Zynga's EVP Yaron Leyvan had celebrated the PC expansion as both fan-requested feature and company milestone: "The mobile and Switch success motivated our PC launch plans to welcome more players to Vespaara."

While Hunters concludes, several Star Wars gaming projects remain in development, including Respawn Entertainment's next Jedi installment and Bit Reactor's tactics title slated for reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2025.
