Star Wars: Hunters Shuts Down Before First Anniversary!

Star Wars: Hunters is set to shut down even before it can celebrate its first anniversary, marking a short-lived journey for the game. However, the developers have planned to commemorate its one-year milestone before the final curtain call. The question arises: is it worth celebrating a dying game's anniversary? While opinions may vary, acknowledging the efforts and memories associated with the game can be a meaningful gesture for its community.

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for Star Wars: Hunters is set for October 1st, 2025, concluding its run after just nine months since launch. Players are granted additional weeks to wrap up Season 5, which will end on April 15th.

Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out a final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce Tuya, the last new Support Hunter, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be replayed. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.

It Isn’t Shocking

The closure of Star Wars: Hunters may not come as a surprise to many. The game faced numerous challenges from the outset. Announced in 2020, it experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions. The lack of major console support and a tepid reception contributed to its eventual shutdown.

Moreover, the game's design choices have been questioned. Despite the rich tapestry of iconic characters in the Star Wars universe, the game opted for generic original characters, missing an opportunity to leverage the franchise's legendary figures.
