Star Wars: Hunter shutting down in late 2025, final content update next month

Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's mobile foray into the Star Wars universe, is closing its doors after less than a year. Launched in June 2024, the game blended game show aesthetics with unique Star Wars character interpretations. However, the game's servers will shut down on October 1st, 2025, with a final content update arriving April 15th.

This closure, announced recently, surprised many, as there were few outward signs of underperformance. While Zynga's strength as a company suggests deeper reasons for the cancellation, the likely culprit is genre saturation. The "pseudo-hero shooter" market may have been too crowded, and the core Star Wars audience might not align perfectly with the demands of a high-octane mobile multiplayer experience.

Despite the closure, players can still enjoy a final content update including the new hunter, Tuya, a free-to-play addition. In-game currency refunds are available, and some seasonal events will be re-run as Season Three is extended.
