Square Enix has provided clearer confirmation about Kingdom Hearts 4 in a new social media update accompanied by images that leave no room for speculation.

Following yesterday's announcement canceling the mobile GPS-based action-RPG Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, the developer reassured fans that development on Kingdom Hearts 4 remains ongoing.

"We're currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game's development. We're committed to creating an experience that meets your expectations!" read the first of two posts, featuring a collage of screenshots showcasing character encounters, cinematic moments, combat sequences, platforming sections, and a formidable enemy.

"We've seen your enthusiasm and are truly grateful," the second post continued. "Our team shares your excitement and looks forward to sharing more about Kingdom Hearts IV at the appropriate time. We appreciate your patience and ongoing support."

This marks the first official update about the anticipated sequel in months, following a brief teaser in January. While originally revealed in September 2022 with a cinematic trailer, Square Enix had remained largely silent about the project until now.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura has previously suggested that Kingdom Hearts 4 will begin wrapping up the franchise's narrative after 22 years and 18 installments.

Regarding the canceled Missing-Link project, Square Enix apologized to fans while explaining the decision was made due to concerns about delivering a satisfying long-term service experience.
