Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Gets Major Update

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 celebrates its anniversary true to Ultramarine fashion - with massive firepower and fresh Chaos foes to annihilate. Here's everything Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have revealed about the upcoming updates.
Space Marine 2 Receives Major September Update Plus Year 2 Roadmap
New PvP/PvE Missions, Enemy Types, Battlefields, Armaments, Class System and Beyond

As Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 nears its first year, the Emperor's crusade continues expanding. Developers confirmed the co-op shooter will receive a "large-scale September update" alongside confirmation of Year 2 content - including both free updates and premium DLC. Originally planned features for Update 9 have been moved to Update 10, making the summer patch focus primarily on gameplay balancing.
In their Steam community update, the studios outlined plans to support Space Marine 2 through 2026. "We're excited to announce Year 2 content including a new seasonal pass featuring both complimentary updates and premium expansions!" stated the developers. "Prepare for additional PvE operations, hostile forces, armaments and... well, more."
The teaser suggests significant undisclosed additions despite concurrent Space Marine 3 development, showing their commitment to sustained Space Marine 2 support though many specifics remain classified.

The September 10.0 update serves as the anniversary centerpiece with major new features. Most anticipated is the Chaos-versus-Chaos PvP mode - originally slated for summer's Update 9 but rescheduled for September deployment.
This innovative mode introduces completely new battlefields where players control Chaos forces against each other, departing from standard Loyalist-versus-Chaos combat. Participants can pilot the formidable Helbrute war engine alongside new Chaos armor variants and the devastating Power Axe - complete with unique combat animations and execution moves (currently only prototype models have been shown).
Another major addition is the Techmarine class - battlefield engineers of the Adeptus Astartes. While developers remain tight-lipped about specifics, lore suggests this support class will specialize in equipment repair and defensive fortification during combat.
Confirmed for both PvE and PvP gameplay, more Techmarine details will emerge in July and August community updates preceding the September content drop.

Year 2 will maintain the steady content pipeline established during the game's first year, blending free updates with premium seasonal pass offerings.
While Update 9.0's summer release window remains approximate, developers promise more 10.0 update details - including full Chaos PvP mechanics and Techmarine specifics - in upcoming July and August community transmissions. Stay tuned for further developments in the grim darkness of the far future!
