The boys are back in town, and by the boys, we mean the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return with Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling contemporary issues in their signature irreverent style.

The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, masterfully tricking the audience into expecting a dramatic new drama series. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone, only to be hilariously disrupted by the appearance of Stan’s dad, Randy, and his sister, Shelley. In a classic South Park twist, Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.

South Park Season 27 teaser imageSouth Park Season 27 is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. Following the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action scenes, hinting at several significant and topical events for the upcoming season. These include multiple plane crashes, the dramatic toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a cameo by P. Diddy, and, unsurprisingly for fans, a conflict with Canada. If you're familiar with the show, especially the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, this last plot point won't come as a shock.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will air on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, has been a staple of Comedy Central since its debut in 1997, captivating audiences with its sharp wit and timely social commentary.
