Smite 2 Is Now Free-to-Play
Smite 2's open beta is now live and free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck. This launch includes a significant content update from Titan Forge Games.
This highly anticipated sequel, revealed a year ago and built using Unreal Engine 5, offers a visually enhanced and mechanically refined experience compared to its predecessor. The core gameplay remains familiar: 5v5 battles featuring gods from diverse mythologies. However, Smite 2 boasts a revamped item shop, allowing item selection independent of god classification.
The open beta introduces Aladdin, a completely new god designed specifically for Smite 2, possessing unique abilities including wall-running and a three-wish revival mechanic. His ultimate involves trapping opponents in a 1v1 duel using his magic lamp.
Key additions in the Smite 2 open beta:
- New Gods: Aladdin (exclusive to Smite 2), Geb, Mulan, Agni, and Ullr.
- Returning Game Mode: The popular 3v3 Joust mode makes a comeback.
- New Map: An Arthurian-themed map.
- Updated Map: Conquest map improvements.
- Alpha Game Mode: An alpha version of the Assault game mode.
- God Aspects: Optional enhancements for select gods.
The return of Joust, alongside updates to Conquest and the inclusion of an alpha Assault mode, offers diverse gameplay options. Titan Forge Games has expressed confidence in Smite 2's superiority over its predecessor, crediting player feedback from the closed alpha for improvements. The team promises ambitious new content releases in 2025.
While available on major platforms, Smite 2 is currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns. However, the developers remain open to a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Download and experience the free open beta today!
