"Silksong Fans Hopeful for Nintendo Direct Reveal Next Week"
While some gaming communities, such as fans of Tomodachi Life, are reveling in the excitement following today's Nintendo Direct, others are grappling with disappointment. The Hollow Knight: Silksong community, in particular, finds itself donning clown makeup once again after the much-anticipated sequel failed to make an appearance at the showcase.
Fortunately, there's another opportunity on the horizon.
Of course, now we wait for April 2nd

The Silksong community has been a whirlwind of anticipation and letdowns for quite some time. A visit to their subreddit or community Discord on any given day reveals a flood of memes and "silkposts" filled with fantasies, predictions, and humor about a game that seems perpetually out of reach. We've previously covered their rollercoaster of emotions last year during consecutive Directs, and again in January when a simple photo of chocolate cake sparked a wild goose chase for an alternate reality game (ARG) that never materialized. From an outsider's perspective, it's challenging to discern whether the community's reactions stem from genuine disappointment or are simply part of the camaraderie among fans who find amusement in the ongoing saga with each new showcase announcement.
Nintendo Direct? That’s not until April 2nd

However, the upcoming showcase carries a bit more weight for Silksong enthusiasts. Hollow Knight initially launched on PC, but its popularity soared after its release on the Nintendo Switch the following year, forging a strong association with Nintendo's platform. The anticipation surrounding next week's event is heightened because it's a Nintendo Direct focused on showcasing the Nintendo Switch 2, including its hardware and potentially several launch titles. This setting could be the perfect stage for Silksong to make a grand re-entrance. While the event will undoubtedly feature a variety of first-party titles, Hollow Knight fans cling to the hope that Silksong's popularity and anticipation will secure it a spot in such a significant showcase—and, crucially, that the game is finally ready for its debut.

Are Silksong fans likely facing another disappointment, potentially the 50th since the game's announcement? It's quite possible! Yet, there are some signs that might suggest Silksong is inching closer to a release date announcement. A recent Xbox Wire post on indie games made a fleeting mention of Silksong, though it could have been a playful tease. More notably, recent backend changes to the game's Steam listing, including an updated copyright year, have sparked intrigue. However, the community has endured numerous instances of getting overly excited about Silksong's random listings and delistings on various console storefronts, so it's difficult to draw definitive conclusions.

The only thing we know for sure comes from Team Cherry's marketing and publishing chief, Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, who stated in January after the cake incident, "Yes the game is real, progressing, and will release." All we can do now is wait and dream of a world where Silksong has finally been released.
So, get your clown makeup ready for next week, folks!
