Sega Postpones Sonic Rumble for Updates
- Sonic Rumble's release has been postponed
- Sega has readied the version 1.2 update packed with fresh content
- A Q&A session will take place on Discord
Despite a vibrant pre-launch crossover featuring Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other Sega classics, Sonic Rumble's global debut is on hold. The multiplayer battle royale was initially poised for a full launch, buoyed by over 1.4 million pre-registrations. However, Sega has decided to pause the release temporarily.
The delay coincides with the team finalizing update 1.2, which is set to introduce significant changes to Dr. Eggman's toybox world. New features like Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills are designed to enrich the core experience, offering more objectives beyond chaotic victories.
Rumble Rankings will enable players to ascend seasonal leaderboards for rewards, while Crews let you and friends tackle score missions collectively. The new Skills system also equips characters with unique abilities, adding a strategic layer to gameplay.

Rather than hastily integrating these features post-launch, Sega chose to delay the release to ensure proper implementation. A Q&A session is scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where players can learn about upcoming plans and submit their questions.

The postponement hasn't diminished the game's existing momentum. All pre-registration rewards remain confirmed, including 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles outfit, and a sleek Movie Sonic skin for reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration milestone. When the game eventually launches, you'll begin with a generous head start.
With the release delayed, you can still pre-register for Sonic Rumble via your preferred link below. The game will be free-to-play with in-app purchases. For additional details, visit the official website.
