"Seedsow Lullaby: A Time-Bending Visual Novel Unveiled"
The visual novel genre, while thriving on PC, has been somewhat underrepresented on mobile platforms, with notable exceptions like the Methods series. This may be due to a bias against the genre among Western gamers or a lack of interest from publishers focused on PC gaming. However, Seedsow Lullaby is poised to challenge this trend with its upcoming release on May 1st for iOS and Android.
At first glance, Seedsow Lullaby might seem perplexing as it promises a visual novel experience without choices or branching paths—a core feature of the genre. Yet, the game's unique premise could well compensate for this deviation. The story follows high schooler Misuzu, who lost her mother at a young age. On her sixteenth birthday, she encounters a woman who claims to be her mother, also at sixteen. Together, they must undertake the Seedsow Ceremony to usher in the rebirth of the gods, with assistance from Misuzu's future daughter.
Time travel is not a new theme in visual novels, with games like Steins; Gate renowned for their use of alternative timelines and branching narratives. However, Seedsow Lullaby offers a more linear approach to this concept, focusing on the journey of Misuzu, her younger mother, and her future daughter through a mythical landscape to complete the Seedsow Ceremony. This straightforward take might not appeal to everyone, but the exploration of life, death, and the inevitability of the future promises a compelling narrative.
