Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Now the Worst User-Reviewed GTA on Steam

Author : Brooklyn Update : Mar 21,2025

Rockstar's enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5, launched in March, hasn't received the enthusiastic welcome expected on Steam. With a "mixed" user review rating (54% positive out of 19,772 reviews), it significantly underperforms the original GTA 5, now unlisted on Steam. In fact, GTA 5 Enhanced currently holds the dubious distinction of being the lowest-rated GTA title on the platform, trailing even Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition (66% positive).

This free upgrade for PC players includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online: Hao's Special Works upgrades, new vehicles, animal encounters, and GTA+ Membership access, alongside enhanced graphics and faster loading times. Existing GTA 5 PC players can upgrade freely, migrating their Story Mode and Online progress.

However, account migration issues are causing significant frustration, dominating negative reviews. Many players report encountering the error message, "The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time." This has led to angry responses, with players expressing their disappointment and threatening to abandon the game.

Despite these problems, GTA 5 Enhanced boasts a peak concurrent player count of 187,059 on Steam. The negative reception, however, fuels concerns about the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, raising fears of similar launch difficulties.
