Developers Prepare for PS5 Pro Launch
The excitement surrounding the PS5 Pro intensified at Gamescom 2024. Multiple developers, according to reports from Wccftech's Alessio Palumbo, are adjusting their release schedules to coincide with the new console's launch. Palumbo revealed an anonymous developer confirmed receiving PS5 Pro specifications and anticipating significantly improved Unreal Engine 5 performance compared to the standard PS5.
This corroborates a report from Italian gaming site Multiplayer, which also mentioned a developer delaying a game launch to align with the rumored PS5 Pro release. Palumbo emphasizes that these are likely different developers, with one being an independent studio, suggesting widespread access to PS5 Pro specs among game developers.
Analyst Predicts Imminent PS5 Pro Release
Adding further credence to the Gamescom whispers, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in July that Sony will likely announce the PS5 Pro later this year, possibly during a September 2024 State of Play. Aguilar suggests Sony needs to act swiftly to avoid impacting current PS5 sales.
This timeline mirrors the PlayStation 4 Pro's 2016 launch, announced September 7th and released November 10th. Palumbo notes that if Sony follows a similar pattern, a formal announcement is imminent.
