Preorder GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080 Gaming PCs Now

Author : Penelope Update : Apr 19,2025

The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs, featuring the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards, is now available for purchase. Leading retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have updated their listings to include these cutting-edge systems. This launch marks a prime opportunity for gamers to get their hands on a complete system equipped with these next-generation GPUs. Be aware, though, that major OEMs like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) won't release their versions until the end of the first quarter.

If you're in the market for a standalone GPU, you'll need to look elsewhere. For that, check out our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find out which retailers might have them in stock. Remember, launch-day GPU stock tends to sell out quickly, often within minutes or hours, due to high demand and the interference of bots that snap up GPUs to resell at inflated prices. Retailers have already indicated potential inventory shortages, so act fast if you're interested.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 at CES 2025. The chassis retains a similar design to the 2024 R16 model but includes aesthetic and cooling enhancements, along with updated internals. The I/O panel has been moved to the top, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel. Air intakes are positioned at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design that minimizes dust accumulation. The system features a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems

Several boutique retailers, including iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm, now offer the option to customize systems with RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs. While this provides access to the latest hardware, keep in mind that built-to-order systems can be quite expensive and may not always be the most cost-effective choice.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

Major OEMs such as Dell, HP, and Lenovo will not introduce their prebuilt gaming desktops with RTX 50-series GPUs until later in the year. Dell showcased its Alienware Area-51 at CES 2025, expected to launch in the first quarter. HP plans to equip its flagship Omen 45L with the RTX 5090 and 5080, likely in February, while Lenovo has not yet announced a timeline for integrating these GPUs into its Legion Tower desktops.

Our RTX 5090 FE and 5080 FE Reviews Are Live

Nvidia officially announced the 50-series GPUs at CES 2025, with a focus on enhanced AI features rather than traditional raster performance. The new DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. While the new GPUs offer a performance boost, the value for PC gamers compared to the previous RTX 40-series remains a topic of debate.

In our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE, Jackie Thomas noted that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."

Jackie's review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE echoed similar sentiments: "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 doesn’t make a lot of sense – it just doesn’t have much of a performance lead over the RTX 4080, though the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do make things look better in games that support it. However, for gamers with an older graphics card who want a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 absolutely provides – doubly so if you’re comfortable with Nvidia’s AI goodies."
