'Badlands' Trailer Reveals New, Distinct Predator
The iconic hunter returns in the newly released teaser trailer for the sci-fi action sequel, Predator: Badlands.
This first look introduces us to Elle Fanning's character, a resident of a perilous, remote future world. However, the Predator she encounters appears to be fundamentally different from its predecessors and may even emerge as an unlikely protagonist. The teaser chillingly promises, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain."
Beyond this reimagined Predator, the footage features strong connections to the Alien universe, sparking speculation that Badlands could lay the groundwork for a new Alien vs. Predator film. Fanning's eyes undergo a transformation reminiscent of Andy's in Alien: Romulus, suggesting her character might be a synthetic being. A clear shot of the Weyland-Yutani corporate logo on a wrecked vehicle further cements this cosmic crossover.

Development for Predator: Badlands was first announced in February 2024, with an official release date confirmed later that October. While the trailer made its exclusive debut at CinemaCon earlier this month, this public release offers fans their first real glimpse of the film.
At CinemaCon, 20th Century Studios also shared the official plot synopsis: “In the future, on a remote planet, a young outcast Predator finds an unlikely ally in a woman named Thia. Together, they embark on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.”
"Something unprecedented happens in this movie," Fanning revealed to reporters and industry professionals at the event. "My character isn't the one being hunted. She actually forms an alliance with the Predator. You will see this creature in a completely new light, and... I should probably stop there!"
Dan Trachtenberg, who directed 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, helms the project from a screenplay he co-wrote with Patrick Aison. Predator: Badlands is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
