"Pokémon TCG Pocket Players Amazed by Cards Featuring Game Boy Locations"
Players of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket have been raving about its stunning card art for months, but a fascinating discovery has recently come to light: some of these cards contain hidden details that link them directly to the classic Game Boy Pokémon games. This revelation has sparked a wave of excitement and investigation among the community.
The intrigue began over the weekend when Reddit user asch_win highlighted some subtle yet significant clues on a Spearow card. The Normal/Flying-type Pokémon is depicted amidst a serene scene with grass, a fence, trees, and two distinctive buildings. Asch_win pointed out that the purple and yellow building in the background is none other than the Celadon City Department Store from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Just to the left of Celadon City lies Route 16, a location in the Kanto region where players can encounter Spearow within a fenced grassy area.

It's clear that the developers at Creatures Inc. and DeNA have meticulously crafted these cards to pay homage to the iconic games that propelled Pokémon into the global phenomenon it is today. But the Easter eggs don't end with Spearow. Another Reddit user, jteede, unearthed further connections to the early titles, such as a full-art Diglett card positioned just east of Vermillion City and a Haunter card near the eerie Lavender Town tower. Asch_win also used a magnifying glass to uncover location-specific references on some Supporter cards.
While many card illustrations depict Pokémon in fantastical, dreamlike settings seemingly detached from the broader Pokémon lore, some cards, like a particular Pikachu variant, are recognizable as collectibles in the real world. Others, exclusive to Pokémon TCG Pocket, harbor these cleverly concealed Easter eggs that fans are now eagerly uncovering.
Over the weekend, the Pokémon TCG Pocket community delved deeper into other cards, uncovering more references. Notable finds include the S.S. Anne cruise liner subtly featured on a Gyarados full-art card, as well as Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards that collectively narrate a story set near the seaside Snorlax location from FireRed and LeafGreen.

Since its launch for mobile gaming enthusiasts in October, Pokémon TCG Pocket has released only one additional booster expansion set, Mythical Island, bringing the total to four available packs. More sets are anticipated to be released in the future, with new cards being introduced through Wonder Pick Events and other updates. As Creatures and DeNA continue to enrich the game with cards spanning multiple generations, players are encouraged to remain vigilant for more hidden references.
In the meantime, fans can stay updated with the current Wonder Pick event, which features Charmander and Squirtle prominently. Additionally, it's worth exploring why the developers are being coy about whether pack choice matters or not.
