Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new benchmark for the longest Pokémon TCG unboxing livestream. This incredible feat involved opening over 20,000 cards in a continuous 24-hour marathon.
A Record-Breaking Livestream
On November 26th, 2024, popular online personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, teamed up for a monumental livestream event celebrating the launch of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks expansion. Broadcasting live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, the trio opened an estimated 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in a staggering collection of over 20,000 cards.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed immense pride in the accomplishment, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The event isn't over, though! Pokémon promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The impressive card collection will be organized and donated to various charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks—A New Expansion
Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the defensively formidable Archaludon ex and its Metal Defender ability.
Featuring iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex, alongside beautifully illustrated rare cards showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas in serene ocean settings, the expansion offers a diverse range of cards. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex further enhance deck-building options.
The expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, allowing players to collect in-game bonuses by utilizing the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
