Peter Parker Battles Godzilla in Epic Clash

Marvel is set to explore the thrilling scenario of Godzilla wreaking havoc in the Marvel Universe through a new series of one-shot crossover specials. IGN has exclusively revealed the third installment in this series, titled Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1. This exciting crossover follows the previously announced Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, released in March and April respectively.

Set in the aftermath of the 1984 Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 unfolds shortly after Peter Parker's return from Battleworld. This period marks a significant transition for Spider-Man as he contends with the effects of bonding with his alien symbiote costume. The story promises an intense showdown as Spider-Man must harness his newfound strength to protect the city from Godzilla's rampage.

The creative team behind this issue includes writer Joe Kelly, who is also set to relaunch the flagship The Amazing Spider-Man series, and illustrator Nick Bradshaw, known for his work on Wolverine and the X-Men. The cover art is crafted by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land. Kelly expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "The second I heard that there was going to be a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the ‘80s, I almost leapt across the table to claim it. This book is a chance to go nuts and have a blast with two iconic characters and channel the chaos of the time period that I was actively collecting Spider-Man."

While this isn't the first time Godzilla has clashed with Western superheroes, as seen in DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, the Marvel series uniquely focuses on the classic Toho Godzilla, differentiating it from the MonsterVerse versions featured in DC's series. This news follows the announcement of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology special aimed at supporting wildfire relief efforts.
