Path of Exile 2's endgame demands meticulous preparation. Fortunately, the developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign that offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff, but it's often overlooked. This guide explains how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel of the Spires of Deshar map. Activating it grants +10% Lightning Resistance. The shrine's icon is small and easily missed on the world map.

Map generation in PoE 2 is randomized, so there's no guaranteed location within Spires of Deshar. However, diligent exploration will reveal the shrine, depicted above. Upon interaction, be prepared for combat; nearby automatons will activate and attack. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.

A convenient strategy involves utilizing the checkpoint near the shrine's location. If you reach the exit checkpoint first, fast travel back to avoid traversing the entire, now-hostile, map.

Claiming Your +10% Lightning Resistance

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's an immediate effect.

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why No Lightning Resistance Buff?

Many players find it perplexing that despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan, their resistance values remain negative.

This is due to a game mechanic: PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, activating the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 initially neutralizes the Act 1 debuff. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the cumulative elemental resistance penalty.

To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you've correctly acquired all available buffs.
