Nvidia Issues RTX 5090 and 5080 Stock Shortage Warning to PC Gamers Ahead of Hotly Anticipated Release Date

The highly anticipated Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are set to launch on January 30th, but concerns about immediate shortages are mounting. Reports from retailers and manufacturers suggest limited initial stock. Potential buyers are already lining up, highlighting the immense demand for these cards, despite their hefty price tags of $1,999 and $999 respectively.

MSI, a major manufacturer, attributes the initial scarcity to the Lunar New Year, anticipating stock levels to improve in February. Retailers like Overclockers UK have reported receiving only a handful of RTX 5090 units, echoing similar concerns from PowerGPU in the US.

In response to the growing anxiety, Nvidia issued a statement acknowledging the anticipated high demand and the possibility of initial stock-outs. The company assures consumers that it and its partners are actively working to increase retail availability.

However, the limited supply is already fueling scalping activities. Pre-sale listings on eBay are showcasing exorbitant price increases, with one Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 listed for a staggering $5,750 – a nearly 200% markup.

Adding to Nvidia's challenges, its stock price experienced a significant drop following the unveiling of DeepSeek, a Chinese AI model reportedly trained at a fraction of the cost of Nvidia's solutions, potentially impacting the company's datacenter GPU sales.
