Naughty Dog's Next Game Rumored to Mimic FromSoftware Style
It appears that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet may offer players significantly more freedom compared to the studio's previous projects. Various sources report that the developers were inspired by Elden Ring and aim to implement similar mechanics related to open-world exploration. This new direction suggests a departure from the linear structure characteristic of their earlier games, leaning more towards a classic open-world concept.
Journalist Ben Hanson reveals that the game will take place on a single large planet, where players will uncover the mysteries of a vanished civilization and explore a new religion, which will serve as a key element of the story. The setting is the planet Sempiria, which has been isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years. Here, players will follow the journey of bounty hunter Jordan Moon, who arrives on the planet as part of her contract.
The Heretic Prophet will be the studio's first project in which the player will act alone, without companions or allies. As Neil Druckmann notes, the studio aims to convey a sense of solitude in an unexplored universe while also delving deeply into themes of faith and religion. This approach promises a unique storytelling experience, focusing on the player's isolation and the mysteries of the new world.
Druckmann also mentions that the development of the game was influenced by titles such as Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This could mean a departure from traditional hints, encouraging players to piece together fragments of the story on their own. Such a narrative style may enhance the game's immersive quality, making the exploration of Sempiria's secrets even more engaging.
The game was announced at TGA 2024 and still does not have a release date. As fans eagerly await more details, the promise of a vast, solitary exploration on Sempiria, combined with deep themes of faith and a rich narrative, sets Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet up to be a highly anticipated title in the gaming community.
