Lego Unveils New "Minecraft Movie" Sets Featuring Familiar and Unexpected Mobs

Ahead of the live-action "Minecraft Movie," Lego has announced two new sets offering glimpses into the film's anticipated mob roster. As reported by GamesRadar, these additions to the existing Minecraft Lego lineup include figures based on Jack Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's The Garbage Man.

The first set, "Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring" (491 pieces, $49.99), depicts a gladiator-style battle. Momoa's character is shown battling a zombie riding a surprisingly large chicken—its scale relative to the zombie is unclear, but it significantly dwarfs The Garbage Man. The set also includes Steve, his companion Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a treasure chest, and a small spectator stand with weaponry.

The second set, "Ghast Balloon Village Attack" (555 pieces, $69.99), features the Nether's Ghast in a large-scale battle scene within a standard overworld village. This set includes a villager minifigure, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem.

Both sets launch March 1st, a month before the film's theatrical release on April 4th. The film itself faced initial criticism upon its September reveal, with fans expressing concerns about the contrast between the live-action characters and the CGI world. However, the director and producer, speaking to IGN in November, acknowledged this feedback and expressed confidence in their approach.
