Michael J. Fox Hunts Lost Marty McFly Guitar
Michael J. Fox has teamed up with Gibson Guitars to locate the iconic Cherry Red ES-345 he played during the Enchantment Under the Sea dance scene in Back to the Future. In a heartfelt YouTube appeal, Fox joked: "We need your help - this guitar's either lost in the space-time continuum or sitting in some teamster's garage."
The Great Gibson Hunt
Gibson amplified the search with vintage "Wanted" posters featuring the missing instrument. Original cast members Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd joined the campaign, urging fans to share leads through Gibson's dedicated tip line. Even Huey Lewis made a cameo in the announcement video.
This cinematic treasure hunt will be chronicled in Gibson's upcoming documentary Lost to the Future. Director Doc Crotzier explained the challenges: "We're dealing with 40-year-old memories in a pre-digital era - every lead comes with conflicting rumors."
A Timeless Legacy
The search coincides with Back to the Future's 40th anniversary celebrations. However, screenwriter Bob Gale recently dashed hopes for franchise expansions: "There will never be another Back to the Future movie, prequel, or spinoff," he told People Magazine. "The trilogy stands perfect enough as it is."
Gale's comments came after Cobra Kai creators sparked speculation about potential TV adaptations. His emphatic response? "No means no - stop asking!" The original creative team remains protective of their time-travel masterpiece.
