The Best ‘Marvel Snap’ Meta Decks – September 2024 Edition
TouchArcade Rating:
Let's revisit the Marvel Snap meta (Free) this month, offering deck-building strategies for competitive play. Last month's balance felt relatively stable, but the new season introduces fresh cards, potentially shaking things up. Remember, today's top deck might be obsolete tomorrow; these guides offer current insights, but exploration is key.
These decks represent current top-tier strategies, assuming a complete card collection. I'll showcase five leading decks, plus a couple of more accessible, fun options.
Most Young Avengers cards haven't significantly impacted the meta. Kate Bishop remains effective, and Marvel Boy benefits 1-Cost Kazoo decks, but others haven't caused major shifts. However, the new Amazing Spider-Season and Activate ability are game-changers, promising a drastically altered meta next month.
Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
The rise of Kazoo to a top-tier deck is surprising. This familiar strategy deploys low-cost cards, buffed by Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, and Gilgamesh thrives in this high-buff environment. Kate Bishop offers Dazzler synergy and cost reduction for Mockingbird. A strong performer, but its longevity remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Reigns Supreme, Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer remains dominant, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo provides early boosts. Forge enhances Brood's clones. Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw benefits from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova siphons opponent's power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
Spectrum and Man-Thing's Ongoing Dominance
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype's top-tier status is unexpected. This deck utilizes cards with Ongoing abilities, boosted by Spectrum's end-game buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing combo is powerful, with Luke protecting cards from US Agent. This deck's ease of play is a plus, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.
Discard Dracula's Reign
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This classic Apocalypse-based Discard deck features Moon Knight (enhanced post-buff). Morbius and Dracula are key cards; optimal play leaves only Apocalypse in hand for a final, powerful Dracula. Collector can also provide unexpected value with sufficient Swarm plays.
The Unstoppable Destroy Deck
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains largely unchanged, with Attuma's recent buff making him a valuable addition. Focus on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
Here are a couple of fun, more accessible decks:
Darkhawk's Resurgence
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck utilizes Darkhawk's strengths, combining him with Korg and Rockslide to flood the opponent's deck. It also includes disruptive cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, along with discard effects and cost reduction for Stature.
Budget-Friendly Kazar
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly Kazar variant, offering a less reliable but educational experience. It retains the core Kazar/Blue Marvel synergy, adding Onslaught for extra impact.
This month's meta is dynamic. The new season, balance changes, the Activate ability, and Symbiote Spider-Man will dramatically reshape the game by October. The resurgence of classic decks is intriguing, but unlikely to last. Happy Snapping!
