"Marvel Rivals Season 2: Enhanced Team-Ups and New Skins"
Marvel Rivals is set to enhance its gameplay with exciting updates for its upcoming Season 2, focusing on new team-up skills and fresh skins for beloved characters like Spiderman and Iron Man. Dive in to discover what NetEase has planned for this thrilling update.
Upcoming Updates for Marvel Rivals
New Team-Up Skills and Changes
Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen recently shared insights on the changes coming to team-up skills in Season 2. In an interview with PC Gamer on March 14, Chen outlined the team's vision for the game's next major update.
He stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with each seasonal update and make adjustments to existing ones. Alongside seasonal balance adjustments, this will create a dynamic new combat environment and experience for players."
Currently, Marvel Rivals features 17 team-up skills, including Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela with either Loki or Thor, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. As the game's roster expands, balancing these skills will become increasingly challenging, making NetEase's approach to these updates highly anticipated.
Balancing Heroes
Chen also discussed the complexities of balancing heroes in Marvel Rivals as new characters are continually added. He explained, "We will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. In Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data forms the backbone of our balancing efforts."
He added, "We also analyze hero lineup compositions and their win rates within these modes, which guides our overall balancing strategy. Additionally, we consider feedback from the player community as a crucial factor in our balancing decisions."
In a January interview with Metro, Chen mentioned that the game would introduce a new hero every half-season. With each season lasting around three months, Marvel Rivals aims to add eight new heroes annually. As the roster grows, so does the challenge of maintaining game balance, a task the developers are actively addressing.
Chen also confirmed that content for Season 2 is ready and that designs for Seasons 3 and 4 are complete and in development. This aligns with NetEase's long-term commitment to support Marvel Rivals for over a decade, promising continuous updates and improvements.
Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Ironman Coming on March 20
NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' official Twitter (X) account on March 18 that new skins for Spiderman and Iron Man would be available starting March 20 at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC. Spiderman's "Spider-Punk 2099" skin features a futuristic digital mask, a spiked mohawk, and an electric guitar, while Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin embraces a steampunk aesthetic with large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his torso.
These skins, previously showcased during the game's closed beta, have been eagerly awaited by fans. Following the release of Loki's Presidential attire from the beta, these new skins add to the excitement. Although the release date has been announced, the prices for these skins remain undisclosed.
