Marvel Rivals mirrors Overwatch's Spring Festival event
Marvel Rivals has just announced an exciting Spring Festival event, set to kick off this Thursday. Players can look forward to claiming a free Star-Lord costume and diving into a unique new game mode called Clash of Dancing Lions. In this mode, teams of three will compete to score a ball into the opposing team's goal, echoing the dynamic gameplay of Rocket League. However, it's the similarities to Overwatch's Lucioball that are particularly striking, as both modes draw inspiration from the popular vehicular soccer game.
This comparison is noteworthy because Marvel Rivals is currently seen as a strong contender against Overwatch. To establish its own identity and distance itself from Blizzard's title, Marvel Rivals needs to introduce distinctive content. Yet, its inaugural major event features a mode reminiscent of Overwatch's first special event. The key difference lies in the thematic approach: while Overwatch's event was themed around the Olympic Games, Marvel Rivals infuses its mode with vibrant Chinese cultural elements, celebrating the Spring Festival.
The good news for fans is that they won't have to wait long to experience this new event, as the Spring Festival is just around the corner, starting this Thursday.
