The Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World is priced at $499.99 at Best Buy. Opting for this bundle saves you $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind, this bundle includes a digital copy of the game, so you won't receive a physical cartridge or game box. If owning a physical copy is a priority for you, you might want to spend the extra $30 and preorder the standalone game.

Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99

When purchased alone, Mario Kart World retails at $79.99, which is $10 higher than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox titles this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand that game development costs have soared. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies this additional expense.

What Is Mario Kart World?

Mario Kart World is poised to be the most expansive Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world format reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In the Grand Prix mode, you can transition seamlessly from one track to the next after completing a race. The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather and time of day, altering visibility and traction.

You have the freedom to venture off the designated tracks and explore "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom, as Nintendo describes. Races now feature 24 drivers, the largest field in any Mario Kart game to date.

A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the open world, navigating through checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fall behind at any checkpoint, and you're out of the race. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you explore at your leisure, team up with friends, and capture memorable moments with in-game photography.

Stay tuned for more details during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview of Mario Kart World for more insights.
