Mai Shiranui has caused a huge surge of interest in Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement as they return to the game to test out the latest addition to the roster: Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. This iconic fighter marks the third character introduced in the second season of Street Fighter 6, and her arrival has significantly boosted the game's popularity.
As of December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6, developed by Capcom, has achieved impressive sales figures, reaching 4.4 million copies sold. Despite some fans feeling that the game has been light on content, the introduction of Mai Shiranui has been a welcome surprise. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a stark increase from the usual 24,000 to 27,000 peak players, marking the highest since May 2024.
Mai Shiranui is accessible to players who have the Battle Pass. In the World Tour mode, players can deepen their relationship with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added, offering fans a fresh look for the character.
The excitement doesn't stop there. The Battle Hub is currently hosting a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can try out this special character until March 10. Alongside these updates, new Master League ranks and rewards have been introduced, giving players more to strive for.
Capcom has also released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, further fueling the anticipation and engagement among the Street Fighter 6 community.
