Longvinter, the PC's Answer to Animal Crossing, Leaves Early Access on Steam

After three years of dedicated development, player feedback integration, and bug fixes, Longvinter has triumphantly exited early access on Steam with the launch of version 1.0. The developers have shared this significant milestone with the community, unveiling a series of updates that aim to revitalize the experience for both new players and seasoned veterans alike.

One of the most exciting additions in this major update is the introduction of oil rigs scattered throughout the archipelago. Players now have the opportunity to extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in intense battles against mercenaries from the Longvinter Resources Inc. (LRI), who control these vital supply lines. Along with this, new events have been integrated into the gameplay, such as helicopter crashes that provide tactical gear and an underground arena where players can compete for valuable rewards every hour.

The game world itself has been enriched with an array of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which can be tamed and used as mounts. The update also brings a plethora of new items to the game, such as hats that provide buffs, combat vests, a variety of weapons, explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating. Players can now construct oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets, adding depth to the game's crafting and survival elements. Significant adjustments have also been made to the balance of weapons, ensuring a more dynamic and fair combat experience.

Looking forward, the upcoming 1.1 update promises to introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial for beginners, the ability to rent apartments, and the establishment of shared communities. Additionally, the developers have confirmed that Longvinter will expand its reach to PlayStation in 2026, offering console players the chance to dive into this immersive world.
