Konami Celebrates Silent Hill 2 Remake Hitting 2 Million Sales
Konami has celebrated the remarkable success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has surpassed the 2 million sales milestone. Developed by Bloober Team, the game was released for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on October 8, 2024, with no word yet on a version for Xbox Series X and S. Just days after its launch, it sold 1 million copies, potentially making it the fastest-selling Silent Hill game ever, though Konami has not officially confirmed this record.
"Since its release, Silent Hill 2 has garnered numerous accolades, including several 'perfect' review scores and multiple award wins and nominations, solidifying its status as a timeless entry in the horror video game genre," stated Konami.
IGN's review of the Silent Hill 2 remake awarded it an 8/10, with our assessment being, "Silent Hill 2 is a great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in the history of survival horror."
The sales triumph of the Silent Hill 2 remake may encourage Konami to further expand the franchise, which has seen increased activity in recent years. Projects such as Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall are still in development, and there's potential for more remakes of past Silent Hill games. Additionally, a film adaptation of Silent Hill 2 is on the horizon.
On the modding front, PC players are making innovative changes to the Silent Hill 2 remake, such as removing hair sheen, the iconic fog, and even transforming the game into a version called "Sunny Hills."
