Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Goes DRM-Free
Warhorse Studios confirms that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) will launch DRM-free. This follows online speculation and misinformation suggesting the game would include Denuvo DRM.
Warhorse Studios Clarifies Absence of DRM in KCD2
Rumors of Denuvo or any DRM in KCD2 are false. In a recent Twitch stream, PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling explicitly stated that KCD2 will not utilize any DRM system whatsoever. He attributed the confusion to misinterpretations of previous communications. Stolz-Zwilling directly addressed gamers, urging them to cease inquiries regarding DRM integration. He emphasized that any information contradicting this official statement is inaccurate.
Concerns over DRM's impact on game performance frequently surface within the gaming community. Denuvo, an anti-piracy DRM solution, has faced criticism for potentially causing performance issues or compatibility problems. While Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, attributes the negative perception to misinformation and confirmation bias, the controversy remains.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, set in medieval Bohemia and following the journey of Henry, a blacksmith's apprentice, is slated for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players who contributed at least $200 to the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
