Insomniac Games' Latest Roadmap Omits Wolverine

Insomniac Games has recently unveiled their ambitious roadmap for the future, yet fans eager for updates on the much-anticipated Marvel's Wolverine will have to wait a bit longer. In a candid interview with Variety, Co-Head Chad Dezern emphasized the studio's focus on existing projects and exciting new ventures, but remained tight-lipped about any new developments or release dates for Marvel's Wolverine. "As much as we have pent-up excitement, we got to hold on to it," Dezern stated, reflecting the studio's cautious approach to sharing details on this highly awaited title.

First announced during the PlayStation Showcase 2021, Marvel's Wolverine captured fans' attention with a cinematic teaser trailer and the promise of an exclusive PlayStation 5 experience. In a 2023 interview with the YouTuber group Kinda Funny, Bryan Intihar, Creative Director of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine is set in the same universe as Marvel's Spider-Man, designated as "1048." Despite hopes for crossover events or shared teasers, the only nod to Wolverine in Spider-Man 2 so far has been a Wolverine-themed suit called "The Best There Is" for Miles Morales. Additionally, a ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed Marvel's Wolverine's development assets and gameplay to the public, adding to the anticipation and curiosity surrounding the game.

While Marvel's Wolverine remains shrouded in mystery, Insomniac Games is busy with other projects. Notably, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on PC on January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac has confirmed there will be no additional story content planned for Spider-Man 2, but the PC version will come packed with all updates since its PS5 release, including new suits, New Game+, and more. The game will be available in Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, the latter offering exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
