Indiana Jones Returns in Epic New Adventure
MachineGames, the developers behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, have confirmed a significant gameplay detail: players will not be able to harm dogs. This decision marks a departure from the studio's previous work, such as the Wolfenstein series, which featured violent encounters with animals.
"Indiana Jones is a dog person," explained MachineGames Creative Director Jens Andersson in an interview with IGN. While the game retains the series' signature action and brawling, interactions with canine characters will be non-lethal. Instead of harming them, players will find ways to scare dogs away.
Andersson further elaborated, stating that the game aims for a more family-friendly approach, consistent with the Indiana Jones franchise's broader appeal. This commitment to avoiding animal cruelty is a key element of their design philosophy for this title.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC. A PS5 release is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2025. Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the game follows Indy's pursuit of stolen artifacts, taking him on a globe-trotting adventure from the Vatican to the Egyptian pyramids and beyond. While Indy's whip remains a versatile tool for combat and traversal, rest assured, no furry friends will be harmed in the process.
