Gran Turismo and Forza's main competitor Assetto Corsa EVO is released today
For fans of realistic driving simulators, January 16, 2025 marks a significant date. Kunos Simulazioni Studios is launching Assetto Corsa Competizione EVO into Steam Early Access.
At launch, players will experience 20 meticulously detailed cars and 5 iconic tracks: Imola, Brands Hatch, Bathurst, Laguna Seca, and Suzuka. Despite being in Early Access, the developers promise already impressive physics, handling, and realistic car behavior.
A standout feature will be the free-roam mode, allowing for unconstrained exploration. A major update is planned for Summer 2025, introducing roads surrounding the legendary Nürburgring. This fully laser-scanned open world will initially encompass up to 1600 square kilometers, with gradual expansion planned.
Assetto Corsa Competizione EVO aims to challenge established giants like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport, boasting photorealistic graphics and advanced physics.
The initial release will feature 100 vehicles and 15 tracks, with more content added via free updates. Each circuit will accurately reflect real-world conditions, including tire wear and wet track surfaces, enhanced by realistic animated spectators.
The developers have also refined vehicle dynamics, suspension damping, and shock absorption. The Driving Academy mode, included in Early Access, offers timed challenges on the available tracks, culminating in a license that unlocks access to the game's most prestigious cars. This mode will be a key single-player activity at launch.
