GoW Fans Unleash Chaos Over PSN Requirement
Following the recent PC launch of God of War Ragnarok on Steam, the game has garnered a 'mixed' user score rating. A significant number of fans have been review-bombing the game in response to Sony's much-criticized PSN account requirement for playing the game. Released for PC just last week, God of War Ragnarok currently holds a 6/10 rating on the platform.
Sony announced that a PSN account is necessary to play God of War Ragnarok on PC, a decision that has left many fans bewildered and appears to have spurred the recent wave of negative reviews on Steam.
Despite the backlash, some players have reported being able to enjoy the game without linking a PSN account. One player shared, "I understand why people are upset about the PlayStation account requirement. It's frustrating when developers add online features to a single-player game. But I was able to play just fine without logging in. It's a shame because these reviews might deter people from experiencing an incredible game."
Another player expressed frustration, stating, "The PSN account requirement dampens the excitement. I launched the game and logged in, but it got stuck on a black screen. It shows I played for 1 hour and 40 minutes, which is ridiculous because I couldn't even start playing."
Despite the negative feedback, there are players who have left positive reviews, praising their experience with the game and attributing the negative reviews solely to Sony's decision. "The story is as good as expected. Players are giving negative reviews mainly because of the PSN requirement. Sony needs to address this issue carefully. Otherwise, the game is top-notch on PC," one player remarked.
Sony encountered a similar situation with Helldivers 2 in recent months, where it initially required a PSN account to play the shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Due to widespread backlash, Sony reversed its decision and removed the PSN account linking requirement for Helldivers 2.
