In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, combat plays a crucial role, and having a reliable weapon is essential. After the prologue, Henry finds himself unarmed, but there's a way to quickly equip yourself with the Dogwood Village Bow for free.

After parting ways with Hans, your next goal is to find a way into the wedding. You can choose to work either as a blacksmith or a miller to gain entry. Even if you're not interested in the blacksmith job, the map marker will guide you to the location where you can pick up the Dogwood Village Bow. If you decide to take the blacksmith job to attend Semine’s wedding, you'll also learn about obtaining the hermit’s sword later.

The blacksmith job is located in Tachov, north of Troskowitz, where the prologue ends and the game world opens up. From Troskowitz, head west along the road, then follow the path as it curves north. At a junction where a smaller road branches west and the main road splits ahead, look to your right for a cluster of trees. This area is easy to miss as it blends in with the surroundings. Tucked within these trees is a small training area.

Inside the cluster, you'll find a target with arrows sticking out of it. Collect these arrows for free ammunition, then look to the right side of the tree to find the Dogwood Village Bow leaning against the trunk. You can also pick up some brew from a nearby stump and gather mushrooms. Once you've collected what you need, continue with your current quest.

Other Ways to Get the Dogwood Village Bow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Alternatively, you can purchase the Dogwood Village Bow, though it's not the most powerful ranged weapon available. Huntsman’s Son Vitek in Tachov sells it, but it's not worth the cost when the free version is nearby. If you're looking for ranged options, it's better to go for the free bow. Vitek also offers other, more effective weapons, and you can earn money through alchemy by collecting herbs and brewing potions to sell.

Having a ranged weapon can significantly ease combat in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, especially since difficulty levels can't be changed. The combat mechanics are similar to the first game, and melee combat isn't for everyone. I personally prefer using ranged weapons whenever possible.

If you proceed to Tachov to become a blacksmith, you can save your game after proving your ability to forge a sword. Alternatively, head to the miller to continue the main quest. With a ranged weapon like the Dogwood Village Bow, combat becomes more manageable in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
