The cards revealed today are included in the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet found within the broader main set. These are reprints of existing cards, now featuring concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy titles. While they aren't new or mechanically unique like recent reveals or the Commander decks we previously showcased, their artwork spans all the way back to the very first game in the series.

Out June 13Final Fantasy - Play Booster Pack
0$7.99 at TCGPlayerUnlike main set cards, Through the Ages cards are not legal in Magic's Standard format (unless the original card was already legal), effectively serving as alternate art versions. However, they can be found in Collector Boosters and in one out of every three regular Play Boosters used for Limited formats like Draft and Sealed.
This means if you frequently play this set at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll likely encounter these cards often. Five of the six cards here are Rares, so they won't appear as frequently, but Thrum of the Vestige is an Uncommon. This is a reskin of one of Magic's most ubiquitous cards, Lightning Bolt, and this particular printing is expected to make a notable impact on the set.
The Warrior of Light version of Jodah, the Unifier is also poised to be highly popular—Jodah is a powerful and frequently used Commander, and the art is Amano's original Japanese box art from the first Final Fantasy. Similarly, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been adapted for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before.
These cards release physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions available on MTG Arena and MTGO starting June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan not yet into Magic, there's reason to be excited: FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura mentioned that the design of Sephiroth on one card differs for a cryptic reason.
