Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian-Themed Millennium Falcon Update - Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to coincide with the release of the new movie. Engineers will have the unique opportunity to look after Grogu, while players will also be able to explore the iconic planet of Coruscant, alongside other classic locations like Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor. This immersive update promises a choose-your-own-adventure experience, allowing guests to dive deep into the Star Wars universe.

Scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, this update will diverge from the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie but will still prominently feature both Din Djarin and Grogu. The storyline kicks off when Hondo Ohnaka uncovers a shady deal on Tatooine involving ex-Imperial officers and pirates. This sets the stage for an exhilarating, high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will collaborate with Mando and Grogu to track down the culprits and claim a bounty, making for a dynamic and engaging adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, it's confirmed that Engineers will have an expanded role, primarily responsible for looking after Grogu. This adds an exciting new layer to the gameplay experience.

In an exclusive interview, Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama provided further insights into what fans can anticipate. "Throughout the mission, engineers will have the chance to communicate directly with Grogu," Kalama explained. "It's going to be a lot of fun. There might be moments when Mando needs to leave the Razor Crest, leaving Grogu to potentially wreak some playful havoc on the control panel. These little vignettes will create memorable moments where you're interacting with Grogu over the comm."

Kalama also discussed the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, noting, "There will be a critical moment where you're pressed for time and need to make a swift decision on which bounty to pursue. This choice will determine the different destinations you'll visit, adding a layer of excitement and unpredictability to your journey."
