RE Engine Student Challenge Announced by Capcom
Capcom Launches First-Ever Game Development Competition for Japanese Students
Capcom is fostering industry growth through education with its inaugural Capcom Games Competition, a student-focused game development tournament. This industrial-academic collaboration aims to cultivate future talent and advance research within the video game industry.
Boosting the Game Industry's Future
This groundbreaking competition provides Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students (18 years or older) the opportunity to develop games using Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE. Teams of up to 20 students will collaborate, each member taking on a specific game development role. Capcom developers will mentor participants, guiding them through cutting-edge game development techniques. Winning teams will receive support for potential commercialization of their creations.
The competition runs from December 9th, 2024, to January 17th, 2025.
Leveraging the Power of RE ENGINE
The competition utilizes Capcom's renowned RE ENGINE (Reach for the Moon Engine), initially created for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017. This powerful engine has since powered numerous successful Capcom titles, including recent Resident Evil installments, Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. Its ongoing evolution ensures the creation of high-quality games.
